WELCOME

FROM DOUG STANTON:
"I wrote In Harm's Way because I wanted to honor the memory, courage, and sacrifice of the men of the USS Indianapolis, and in this way all veterans of WWII. After meeting these men, these survivors, I felt that their acts of heroism held lessons for me as I went about my daily life. They survived an incredible ordeal, the war's worst disaster at sea, and I've been touched by the response to the book. I really do like hearing from those who served aboard the ship, as well as from their families, including those who were involved in the incredible rescue of the crew after the ship's sinking. It's also been great hearing from those who're learning about the Indianapolis for the first time.""The In Harm's Way Discussion Forum is a place for readers to record personal thoughts about the book and these men's stories, or to post messages to former shipmates or families of shipmates, or to ask me questions. I WILL respond, sometimes with the help of Heather Cauchy, or Keith Smith, resident archivist and historian of the USS Indianapolis. Heather has worked with me on the book, and she's gotten to know many of the men and families associated with the ship; Keith's knowledge of the ship and crew is extensive. If Heather or Keith respond, it usually means I'm traveling. The tour schedule lists places I'll be, and I hope to meet you. If you are a survivor, or if your father, grandfather, uncle, brother, or cousin was a survivor, please introduce yourself -- it will be an honor to meet."
Thanks, best wishes, Doug
